Wailea Beach Resort is one of the amazing resorts you can book for a night for free if you have an annual free night certificate by owning a Marriott credit card (Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express card, to be specific). If you have used one of your free night certificates and then canceled it — no problem . . . . . . USUALLY. The certificate is deposited back into your account for you to use whenever you desire before the expiration date. But currently there is a bug in the Marriott reservation system. The reservation using the certificate is cancelled as you request, but the certificate gets “lost” somewhere and doesn’t show up on your account.
It’s a problem they are aware of, and are working hard to fix it. In the meantime, if you have cancelled your free night certificate, double check your Bonvoy account to ensure it got returned to you appropriately. It’s worth literally hundreds of dollars and you don’t want to lose that perk. If you find you are missing your certificate, you’ll want to give Marriott a call at 888-236-2427, noting the hotel name and dates of your canceled stay. Reservations agents should be able to redeposit your certificates.
