Marriott D.C. Pulse Mayflower

Usually Destination Escapes are announced earlier than this — but hey, we’ll take what we can get!! Some of you have wondered what exactly is “Destination Escapes“. It’s a program Marriott uses to reserve some extra inventory and is especially enticing to owners who have flexible schedules. You typically have 30-60 days to make your reservation. All properties and room types will be offered according to the schedule shown below.

OwnershipVacation Club Points Per Stay
3 Night4 Night7 Night
Guest Room180240420
1 Bedroom360480840
2 Bedroom5407201,260
3 Bedroom7209601,680

The benefit of using the same schedule regardless of the property means you can get some REALLY good deals. The problem is that sometimes the Escapes discount points is even MORE than if you reserved it normally — not something you want to do.

Not all properties with availabilities participate in the Escapes program. Nor are all room types and reservation lengths available. Lucky for you, I do the numbers for you. To make a reservation using the Destination Escapes discount, you must call Owner Services directly — you can’t do it online.

For June there are four properties available using the Destination Escapes discount: Desert Springs Villas I in CA, Harbour Lake in FL, Washington DC Pulse Mayflower, and San Diego Pulse.

Here are the details of each are shown below:

PropertyLength of StayType of Rooms
Desert Springs Villas I3 or 4 nightsGuest Room or 1-bedroom
Harbour Lake3, 4 or 7 nights2 bedroom
DC Pulse Mayflower3, 4, or 7 nightsGuest room
San Diego Pulse3, 4, or 7 nights1-bedroom

So what is the best deal, you are wondering? HANDS DOWN DC PULSE MAYFLOWER is the best deal available for June — by a long shot. It would be only 240 MVC points to stay 4 nights in their Guest Room, compared to 1,135 MVC if you reserved them not using the Escapes discount. Desert Springs Villas I would save you some MVC points as well, though not the deal the Mayflower is. The other two — NOT something you want to do to max the value of your points. Wait for something better, or just reserve them through normal procedures online.
