I’ve needed to contact MVC Owner Services a couple of times in the last few months to cancel some reservations (cancelling reservations can’t be done online). The first time was 4th of July weekend, and we decided just a few hours before departure to cancel our reservation at the Grand Chateau in Las Vegas. I understood I would forfeit all my points if I canceled the day of check-in and time was critical. Unfortunately, when I called Owner Services, they were already closed. If I waited until they opened the next day to cancel, I would forfeit all my points! WALLAH!! I noticed the “Chat” tab in the lower right corner of their website. I usually don’t like to use Chat because the conversation is more limited and slower. But I was open to trying it in this case.
Wouldn’t you know that within 5 minutes, I was able to cancel my reservation and all points were refunded back to me. (I used holding points to make the reservation, and all points were returned to my account as holding points.) First of all, I was impressed that I was less than 24 hours of checking in and I didn’t have any penalty for late cancellation. Second of all, I was impressed I was able to contact someone at 7:00 pm to handle my request.
Fast forward to a few days ago. I needed to cancel another reservation to Grande Vista in Orlando in a few weeks (again, COVID-19 affected my travel plans). When I called Owner Services, the wait time was OVER AN HOUR!!!! I tried the “we’ll save your place in line and call you back” process, but the call came when I couldn’t take it. Instead of trying that process again, — WALLAH!!! I clicked the “Chat” tab on the website, waited about 5 minutes in queue, and had my reservation cancelled within another minute or two. Easy Shmeazy!!! And much faster than waiting over an hour.
My Take On This
If you know exactly what needs to be done, and don’t have questions, using the “Chat” option on their website is a great way to circumvent long wait times when contacting them by phone, or completing transactions after hours. It takes a few seconds to appear in the lower left-hand side of your screen when you log in, so don’t panic if it doesn’t appear immediately.
